Drift Attack
Drift Attack is Forza Horizon 6's permanent drift arena at the Shimanoyama Circuit, added on Sep 7, 2026: drive through the gantry and score as many drift points as you can in one lap. It unlocks with the Yellow Wristband, and completing it in the Collection Journal gives the 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition.
Drift Attack is a Time Attack for drifting: in Forza Horizon 6 you drive through the gantry at the Shimanoyama Circuit and score as many drift points as you can in a single lap, as many laps as you like, with "no loading and no friction" from the open world. Playground added it as a permanent feature with the British Automotive update on Sep 7, 2026. It unlocks with the Yellow Wristband, the first of the Wristbands, and completing it in the Collection Journal gives the Drift Attack Racesuit and Helmet and the 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition, a car built for drifting.

How does Drift Attack work?
Drive to the Drift Attack icon at the Shimanoyama Circuit and through its gantry; there is no menu or loading screen. A lap is scored in drift points, earned the same way as in Horizon Drift and Drift Zones, and Clipping Zones placed around the arena boost the points for any drift held inside their boundaries. The score that counts is the best single lap, but laps are unlimited: Playground's word was to "keep going."
You can drift alone, in a Convoy, or beside whoever else is there in the Shared World. The leaderboards are in-world and per Convoy, and the menu shows the drivetrain of each leaderboard entry, so you can see whether the scores above yours came from rear-wheel or all-wheel drive cars.
Shimanoyama Circuit sits at the Horizon Festival site, which has its own permanent Car Meet and Drag Meet strip (car culture post, Mar 20, 2026). The region is on Regions.
How do you unlock Drift Attack?
Drift Attack is part of the Horizon Festival campaign and opens with the Yellow Wristband, which you win at the Horizon Invitational in your first hours (Beginner's Guide).
Rewards: the XJ-S Forza Edition
Completing Drift Attack in the Collection Journal unlocks the Drift Attack Racesuit and Helmet and the 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition, "a fully customized car" (Aug 26 post) built for drifting. Playground also added a stock 1990 Jaguar XJ-S to the Autoshow at the same time, for anyone who wants to build their own. Playground did not publish the Forza Edition's class or Performance Index in either post; check it in game. Other Forza Edition cars are on Forza Edition Cars.
What is the best drift car for Drift Attack?
Playground has named no best car, and no outlet's measured ranking was found for this page as of Nov 3, 2026. What is sourced:
- The XJ-S Forza Edition is the car Playground built for this event, so it is the natural first choice once you earn it.
- The drivetrain column on the leaderboard shows what the top scores use; read it at your own Performance Index before building a car (Car Classes and Performance Index).
- Drivers using Manual with Clutch got clutch kicking back on Jul 20, 2026, when Series 3 Hotfix 1 restored clutch kicking while drifting, and the same fix stopped Horizon Drifting sessions ending abruptly.
- For upgrades, Playground's own advice was to tune your favorite cars ahead of the update and to ask in the Forza Discord (Aug 26 post). Downloaded tunes are covered on Upgrades and Tuning.
Fixes since launch
The Series 6 update on Oct 5, 2026 stopped Drift Attack scores being farmed with fast travel or rewinds. The leaderboards were not wiped then. The Nov 2, 2026 wipe of PR Stunt boards named Drift Zones, not Drift Attack; see PR Stunts.
More Drift Attacks to come
The Shimanoyama arena is permanent, and Playground said it plans Evolving World Drift Attacks in future series updates, Evolving World being Playground's name for temporary changes to the shared map. None had been announced by name as of Nov 3, 2026 (the City Life posts mention none). Drifting is also a Horizon Play mode, Horizon Drift, which since Series 6 includes the Edamame Circuit (Series 6 post); see Multiplayer.
