There is no official "best car" in Forza Horizon 6: Playground Games ranks nothing, and every tier list is one outlet's opinion, which patches can overturn. The most complete published one, Dexerto's Forza Horizon 6 car tier list (undated, read Nov 3, 2026), defines its S tier as "the best at most races and driving around" and puts over a hundred cars in it, among them the 2025 GR GT Prototype, the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, the Ferrari FXX-K Evo Welcome Pack, the Koenigsegg Jesko, the Pagani Huayra R and the Mazda MX-5 Miata Forza Edition. For a first car, Dexerto picks the 1989 Nissan Silvia K's. Dexerto shows no date or method, so its list cannot be tied to a patch.

What is the best starter car?

Mei offers three cars at the start, a 1989 Nissan Silvia K's, a 1994 Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205 and a 1970 GMC Jimmy, and "All three cars will be added to your garage", so the choice decides only which car is driven first. Dexerto's pick is the Silvia, which it calls one of the best drifting cars in the game and good on Japan's winding roads; it rates the Jimmy strong off-road but weaker overall and finds the Celica behind on handling and speed (Dexerto, undated). All three are C class on Playground's list: Silvia C 455, Celica C 479, Jimmy C 416. That matters because only C class cars can enter Festival events until the Yellow Wristband. Dexerto sorts the whole roster into tiers, S for "the best at most races and driving around" and A for cars "strong in most races and perfect in ones they specialize in" (Dexerto, read Nov 3, 2026). Its S tier is broad, with over a hundred cars across every class. A sample by type:

Cover car and add-ons: the 2025 GR GT Prototype, the Ferrari FXX-K Evo Welcome Pack, the Ferrari J50 and its pre-order version, the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Forza Edition (VIP).

Fastest is not the same as best

How patches changed the best cars

Drag Tires, Jun 15, 2026 (Series 2): Drag Tires had been fitted to cars for ordinary racing; Playground made them "no longer the optimal tire choice outside of drag racing" and kept their PI cost, so an existing A 700 tune kept its PI with "significantly reduced cornering performance".
Power-to-weight, Aug 10, 2026 (Series 4): a wrong power-to-weight ratio calculation was fixed (patch notes).
Ginetta G40 Junior, Nov 2, 2026 (Series 7): the Series 5 reward car had performed "significantly better than cars within the same PI Class across several different PI Classes", which Playground said hurt Horizon Play and Rivals, so its performance was cut. Any tier list or tune that relied on the Ginetta before Nov 2, 2026 is out of date.
