Street Races and Touge Battles
In Forza Horizon 6, Touge Battles are night races against one opponent down narrow mountain passes, and Street Races are night races with no class restrictions. Both are Discover Japan events, so they earn Stamps in the Collection Journal rather than Wristband progress.
In Forza Horizon 6, a Touge Battle is a head-to-head night race against one opponent down a narrow mountain road, and a Street Race is a night race where you can bring cars you cannot yet use in Festival events, hypercars included. Both are new or reworked for Japan, and both belong to Discover Japan, the exploration path, so they earn Stamps in the Collection Journal rather than Festival progress toward Wristbands. PC Gamer called Touge Battles the best activities on that path in its review (May 14, 2026). The mountain roads themselves are on Mount Fuji and Touge Roads.

How do Touge Battles work in Forza Horizon 6?
A Touge Battle puts you against a single rival on a mountain pass after dark. Playground introduced them as new "night-time races down Japanese mountain passes" (Mar 20, 2026). Unlike a Festival race there is no grid of 11 Drivatars: it is you and one car, on roads PC Gamer describes as narrow (review, May 14, 2026). The game's own taste of it comes in the prologue, where a 1995 Porsche 911 GT2 chases a Mazda RX-7 Type R on touge roads.
Touge Battles show on the map as their own icons, and those icons count toward Discover Japan alongside Street Races, Car Meets and Time Attack Circuits. The first one earns the achievement "Just Getting Started" and five earn "White Ghost". Playground has not published how many Touge Battles there are, or a list of their routes, as of Nov 3, 2026.
Where are the touge roads?
Playground names Mt. Haruna and Bandai Azuma among the mountain passes. Mount Haruna has steep cliffs and thin winding roads, Xbox Wire's tour with the designers said (May 18, 2026), and a Bandai Azuma Skyline Drift Zone sits in Shimanoyama. Mountain descents also turn up as Festival Playlist challenges: the week of Sep 24, 2026 named the Rainbow Bridge Descent, Okishinaimura Run and Norikura Descent. For the regions they sit in, see Regions.
How do Street Races work?
Street Races are the classic Horizon street events, returning to the Shared World and run at night. Their draw is freedom: Festival races lock you to a car theme and a class cap set by your Wristband, but Street Races have no class restrictions, so a hypercar you cannot yet take to the Festival (that waits for the Purple Wristband) can race here from the start. One named example is the Hokubu Ascent street race, which PC Gamer used as a landmark in its Treasure Car guide (May 15, 2026).
Shuto Charge, the newest Street Race
The City Life update on Nov 2, 2026 added two permanent routes in Tokyo City: the Shuto Charge Street Race and the Edo Circuit Road Race. "Shuto" refers to Tokyo's Shuto Expressway, whose C1 loop Playground cited as an inspiration for the city's roads. Playground gave no length or unlock condition for either route in its posts (Series 7 blog); look for the icon in Tokyo City.
Discover Japan credit
Every Touge Battle and Street Race counts toward the seven Discover Japan Stamps, from Yellow to Gold, where Gold makes you a Master Explorer (progression post). Stamps open Player Houses, Barn Find Rumors and The Estate (campaign post), so night racing feeds a different set of rewards from Festival racing. Racing them is one of several ways to earn Stamps; the others are on Collection Journal and Discover Japan.
Touge Showdown in multiplayer
Online, Horizon Play has Touge Showdown: two-player championships of three races, what Insider Gaming called a 1v1 mountain pass race (May 1, 2026). The other modes are on Multiplayer.
