Horizon Stories
Horizon Stories in Forza Horizon 6 are short side chapters, each usually a drive, a short cutscene and a three-star challenge, that feed Discover Japan. They include Day Trips around Japan, a Tokyo drift club and a story with photographer Larry Chen, and 81 Stars earn the Storyteller achievement.
Horizon Stories are Forza Horizon 6's short side chapters: most are a drive, a short cutscene and a three-star challenge, as PC Gamer's review describes them (May 14, 2026). They are yellow-badged on the map and, by PC Gamer's account, the biggest source of Discover Japan progress toward the Stamps in the Collection Journal and Discover Japan. They include Day Trips that follow routes visitors to Japan take, a climb into Tokyo's premier drift club, and chapters with the real automotive photographer Larry Chen. The achievement "Storyteller" asks for 81 Stars from Stories.

Day Trips
Day Trips are Story chapters built on the trips real visitors take. In Xbox Wire's tourist's tour of the map with a designer (May 18, 2026), Day Trip missions mirror those journeys around Japan, and places such as Hirosaki Castle and Ruriko-ji are part of the tourist collection (Landmarks). Playground's progression post also lists joining Mei's day tours among the ways to earn Stamps. Three Stars on any Day Trip chapter gives "Dedicated Tourist" (10 Gamerscore).
Named stories
Playground has not published a full list of Stories and chapters. These are named in sources:
- Moto Auto Zine Stories: Shibuya Showstopper. Its Chapter 6 could not be finished without the Yellow Wristband until the Series 4 update fixed it on Aug 10, 2026.
- The drift club. IGN's review describes working your way into Tokyo's premier drift club. For drifting itself, see Drift Attack.
- Larry Chen. The same review has you helping the real-life automotive photographer, who appears as himself in the game.
- The parade cars. PC Gamer's review describes a local mechanic tuning a fleet of famous Japanese cars for a festival parade, each driven before and after the tune (Japanese Cars).
Stars and the Storyteller achievement
Each Story challenge is rated up to three Stars, and the Stars add up across all Stories. "Storyteller" asks for 81 Stars, which at three per chapter is at least 27 chapters at full marks. The exact number of chapters is not published, so it is not known how much room there is to spare.
Can you skip Stories?
Stories are optional; the main path is the Festival's Wristbands. For players who struggle with a challenge, Eurogamer's review lists "standard or guaranteed story progression" among the accessibility options; Playground has not published exactly how the guaranteed setting works. Settings change at any time (Accessibility and AutoDrive).
