Which Forza Horizon games can you still buy?

Each of the first four Forza Horizon games was taken off sale some years after launch, and owners kept playing. Forza Horizon left the Xbox Store on Oct 20, 2016, Forza Horizon 2 on Xbox One on Sep 30, 2018, Forza Horizon 3 on Sep 27, 2020, and Forza Horizon 4 on Dec 15, 2024, which Playground explained as "due to licensing and agreements with our partners". Forza Horizon 5 and Forza Horizon 6 are on sale as of Nov 3, 2026.

Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport

1:33 Forza began in 2005 with Turn 10 Studios' Forza Motorsport, in Redmond, Washington. Playground Games, founded in 2010, has made every Forza Horizon game in partnership with Turn 10: Microsoft wrote in 2018 that Playground had "partnered exclusively with Turn 10 Studios" since it was founded, and Forza Horizon 6's launch post thanks both studios. Forza.net describes the split as Motorsport for track racing and Horizon for the open world.

The two series have drifted apart since. In December 2025 the Forza team said Forza Motorsport (2023) would get no new cars, tracks, features or regular bug fixes, while keeping its servers online, as the team turned to Forza Horizon 6. Owners of Forza Motorsport, and of every earlier Horizon game, get a loyalty car in Forza Horizon 6 (see Free Cars and Loyalty Rewards).

Where to start

12:14 For a new player in November 2026, the choice is between the two games still on sale. Forza Horizon 6 is the newest, with the Japan map, Tokyo City and monthly series still coming, and it is on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Forza Horizon 5 has had five years of updates and two expansions, with "nearly 900" cars by January 2025, and it is the only one of the two already on PS5 until Jan 26, 2027. The story of each game stands alone, so there is no need to play them in order; Forza Horizon 6 even starts the player as a tourist, with "None of that past fame" from earlier games. Forza Horizon 5 compares the two in detail.
