0:00 Forza Horizon 6 comes to PS5 on Jan 26, 2027, with Premium Edition early access from Jan 21, 2027, as Playground Games announced on forza.net on Oct 8, 2026, the day PS5 pre-orders opened on the PlayStation Store. This is the official date, not a leak or a rumor. It is later than first promised: from January to October 2026 Playground said the PS5 version was coming "later this year", meaning 2026. The PS5 version is ported by Panic Button with Playground and Turn 10 Studios, costs the same as on Xbox and PC, and plays with them through cross-play and cross-save. The game has been out on Xbox Series X|S and PC since May 19, 2026 (see Release Date and Times).

When does Forza Horizon 6 come out on PS5?

The Standard and Deluxe Editions release on Jan 26, 2027. The Premium Edition, and the Premium Upgrade for Standard or Deluxe owners, gives five days of early access from Jan 21, 2027. On PS5 the game unlocks at 12:01am local time on each date; all U.S. territories unlock at 12:01am EST, which is 9:00pm PST the evening before for the West Coast.

Jan 21, 2027 is also the day Expansion 1 reaches every platform, along with a free content update for all players, so PS5 early access players start with the first expansion already out. That PS5 arrives about four weeks before Playground's Fable, dated Feb 23, 2027, is covered on Playground Games.

How was the PS5 date announced?

On Oct 7, 2026, the leaker billbil-kun reported a Jan 26, 2027 PS5 date, a PS5 disc and €69.99 pricing, as Gameswelt reported that day. Playground confirmed all of it the next day in its Oct 8 forza.net post, so the report proved right, but the source of the date is Playground. Thurrott reported the date on Oct 9, citing Playground's post and noting it breaks the earlier promise of a 2026 PS5 release.

The slip had a hint in January: Game Informer noted on Jan 22, 2026 that a product listing already showed 2027 for PS5, while Playground said "later this year". Playground's launch-day page on May 19, 2026 still said "later this year". At the reveal on Sep 25, 2025, it had said only that PS5 would follow "post-launch".

How much does Forza Horizon 6 cost on PS5?

Is the PS5 version a separate purchase?

Yes. The PS5 version is a standalone purchase: owning Forza Horizon 6 on Xbox, the Microsoft Store or Steam does not include it, and add-ons must be bought again on PS5, where they go on sale separately from Jan 26.

One difference favors PS5 buyers: on Xbox and PC the 30-car Car Pass hands out one car a week until Dec 8, 2026, but on PS5 all 30 cars are available at release. The PS5 version also has content parity, including features added after launch such as Drift Attack.

Cross-play, cross-save and the Microsoft account

The PS5 version has cross-play and cross-save with the Xbox Series X|S and Steam versions, through a linked Microsoft account; leaderboards and the Festival Playlist are shared too. Linking a Microsoft account is required on PS5, and the link is permanent for that title. All player-made content, from EventLab races and Prefabs to Garages, Estates, Liveries and Tuning Setups, is cross-platform from day one. How saves move between platforms is on Game Pass, Cross-Play and Cross-Save.

Online multiplayer on PS5 needs PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra or Premium; solo and offline play need no membership. On Xbox consoles the equivalent is a Game Pass tier that includes online play.

Performance, DualSense and trophies

Playground has not said, as of Nov 3, 2026, whether PS5 Pro adds anything or whether either mode uses ray tracing; the comparison with Xbox is on Performance Modes on Xbox and PS5.

The PS5 FAQ lists DualSense vibration and adaptive trigger effects, PlayStation Portal play through Remote Play, and no PS VR2 support beyond Cinematic mode. The 57 Achievements become trophies with a Platinum Trophy added. The PS5 file size is not published as of Nov 3, 2026.

Who is making the PS5 version?

Panic Button, the studio that ported Forza Horizon 5 to PS5, works on the Forza Horizon 6 version with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios. Forza Horizon 5 reached PS5 on Apr 29, 2025, about three years and five months after its Xbox launch, with the free Horizon Realms update for every platform alongside; Forza Horizon 6 makes the jump eight months after its own launch, again with a free update and this time an expansion beside it.
